This book tells the story of a young man who was born in Camabatela, Cuanza-Norte, in the 1980s. The young man, who was given the artistic name Inocente, was born into a group of ten siblings, four brothers and six sisters. Inocente’s father was taken from his hometown of Cuanza-Norte to Malanje by his uncle during his childhood, after the death of his father.<\/span><\/span><\/span><\/span><\/span><\/span><\/span><\/p>\n

During his youth in Malanje, Inocente’s father met a young woman and fell deeply in love, with her reciprocating positively, culminating in a traditional marriage and later a canonical and civil ceremony. In Malanje, the couple had two children and remained in that province until Inocente’s father was called by his widowed mother and two older sisters to take care of them.<\/span><\/span><\/span><\/span><\/span><\/span><\/span><\/p>\n

In 1990, Inocente’s father, along with his wife and children, was forced to abandon the land where most of his children were born and moved to Samba-Caju, where they stayed for some time before returning to Calandula, Malanje. This exodus, which brought immense joy to Inocente’s parents and siblings, quickly turned into a sea of \u200b\u200bproblems for Inocente, worse than those he had experienced in his father’s homeland.<\/span><\/span><\/span><\/span><\/span><\/span><\/span><\/p>\n
